Crytek announces free-to-play FPS

Interesting news: FPS masters Crytek have announced a new shooter. Bummer news: it’s developed for Korean / other Asian markets.

Titled Warface, the shooter will be of the online kind and will go after a piece of the free-to-play market, a first for Crytek. No dates yet, though according to CEO Cevat Yerli, it’ll launch “soon.”

“Our passion is to always deliver the best gaming experience possible,” he says. “That’s why we opened our Crytek Seoul office in 2008 which today enables us to offer a game that is tailored to suit its market.”

The game’s based on CryEngine 3 tech and promises a persistent, near-future setting with “a constantly updated extensive PVE universe full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions” and “a full set of class based PVP.” It’ll be available on PC only.
